Welcome to your First Judging Session
This week, you need to submit a photo to embody you persona during your previous cycle. Let's see the photos
Anne
DNS
Ashley 'Stylish Vampire'
Adele: I love the concept. And your eyes contact is good but I think the angle doesn't really help you in this photo. I barely can see your neck. I love those chain on your hair. Cute. Overall, it's a good photo.
Gwen: I agree with Adele that I'm not a huge fan of the angle. To me, it makes your head look a bit misshaped. That aside, this is a nice shot. The fact that it's in black and white helps give it a more dark element. I also like the chain accessory on your head. The pose is fine for the amount of you we can see and I can see your theme in the picture (the vampire part a little bit of a stretch, but i can get there).
Amanda: Meh. I'm in agreeance about the angle, in that it doesn't do you justice, and the lack of a neckline hurts you severely. You're a VAMPIRE. Vampires LIKE necks. I also don't think the chain on your head fits with "vampire" in the slightest, although I actually do like it otherwise. I see the focus in your eyes and you look sort of freaky, which really is the only "vampire" thing I am seeing. It's only sort of stylish also, but the black and white gives a dark artistic vibe and that's probably the strongest point here. I do like your hair also, but the hand is just ehhh for me. Overall, it's a good photo, I just wish it sold the theme better and showed off the neck.
Natalie: I'm not a huge fan of this, Ashley. I don't think you really look like a vampire, and playing one in a movie doesn't make it work for a persona. The angle is meh, and the photo is just overall a bit too dark. I'm sorry :/
LMH: I don't even get this. Just because you have a chain on your head, and the photo is black and white doesn't mean you're a vampire. But I guess I could imagine you having vampire teeth haha I don't even know. I actually like the photo though in a weird way. I can agree it's really creepy which again with imagination I could see you as a vampire I suppose. However, the styling is very cool and it's very different which I think is a positive.
Britney 'Sexy Girl Next Door'
Adele: I really like the setting. I can see it belongs to your persona. But the amount of dolls in the photo is kinda creepy. I think you can do better with the styling. You still need to work on your face too.
Amanda: No. God no. Ew.
Let me explain my initial reaction here. First of all, the setting completely overwhelms you, given that it's really WHITE and BUSY at the same time. Your pose is stiff. Your face is horrible. You look trashy. I don't see any "artistic" value or any modelesquity here. Sorry Brit, but I REALLY do not like this one bit :/
Natalie: I'm not a huge fan of this either Britney. I think the setting completely overwhelms you, and while I don't mind the skimpy attire for this persona, your face is awkward and it's not a great modelling shot. However, I don't want to stress you out, so I don't think you'll be leaving.
Gwen: The picture's a bit small for my taste. If the shot of you was a bit closer, the size of the picture wouldn't have mattered. However, I can still see you well enough in the picture, so it's not a huge deal. Just saying i would have preferred to have been able to see you better. That said, this picture does really connect to your persona well. You look like the girl next door who just got in touch with her sexual side, so it works. The facial expression is kind of a play at innocence, but it's also clear that you're not that innocent (sorry, I had to).
LMH: Well on a positive note, I know where you were going 100%. Technically, you did a great job of portraying your persona. The photo though, is reaaally bad. It just sucks I don't know what else to say. It's small, your face is kind of scary and there's creepy dolls all around you. The persona though, is the key to this photo shoot so I'm going to have to think about this one!
Charlize 'Fierce'
Adele: When I saw fierce as your persona, I didn't really get it. But this photo is amazing. I love the intensity and the dramatic value in this photo. I think this photo deserved another persona name. Maybe something like 'Sophisticated Fierce Lady' instead of just fierce. Gorgeous photo!!!
Amanda: Your persona title is somewhat safe, but this photo is NOT safe at all. Honestly, Ashley's title is "Stylish Vampire" and I think this photo works better for that than hers. Wow, just wow... the styling is amazing, the expression is fierce, all right, and the setting just brings it all together. I don't have much of ANYTHING negative to say here, so great work Charlize
Natalie: I'm not a great fan of your persona, but I think you did really well with what you picked. I really have no complaints about the picture, but I wish the persona had a noun in it. Good work!!
LMH: I think this is a very cool looking photo but I dont see "fierce." You look bored just sitting there. However, everything else is pretty amazing. The more I look at it the more I like it! Haha though the persona does bother me as well like the other judges.
Gwen: I'm not the biggest fan of your wording for your persona, but I love the picture and it's spot on with the persona you had given. The styling is what makes this shoot and it's done excellently. Off to a strong start already.
Emmy 'Sassy & Classy'
LMH: Off the bat I'm not too crazy about this one. I can say this, you did a good job selling this one. I think overall it's okay. Your dress isn't that special and your face is bothersome but I can see some personality at least, and the location and lighting help you a lot. I don't see the "fire in the eyes", I find it more awkward than anything. But I actually don't hate this photo. I don't know how to feel!!!! Haha, the pose is great though. I'm indifferent...for now?
Adele: The photo felt a little bit empty. Maybe because of the setting. But I really like your look. I love the dress. Compliment you really well. My only issue is your photo is more classy than sassy. It's really hard for me to find the sassy-ness in this photo. Overall, I still love it
Amanda: Well that was entertaining... xD
I like this photo, but I don't love it. There are definitely a few things missing here. The fact that the room you're in is empty sort of leaves me with a feeling of emptiness. Maybe you SHOULD have thrown this into Photoshop just to crop it. Take off about 50 pixels on the left side and you'll have gotten rid of that column, leaving nothing but blue skies behind you. The view is gorgeous, and you are too, but like Ho, I feel that your expression leaves something to be desired. The styling is amazing and very classy and I L-O-V-E your hair, but there's a certain emptiness here. I agree that sixth is about right
Natalie: I agree with the other judges here. I think the photo is a bit empty, but you've done well otherwise. I think your theme matches the photo well, albeit gold dresses are a bit tacky. Overall, not a bad job, Emmy. Welcome back!
Gwen: This photo is a great start, but there could have been more to it. I do think you look classy and sassy, but I wish there were a few props in your photo that fit with the theme. It's not that big of a deal since I still get a good vibe in this photo when it comes to the theme. You also look beautiful in it, so I don't really have any complaints.
Eva 'Comeback Queen'
Adele: It's hard for me to relate this photo to your choice of persona. I personally think this photo embodies 'High Maintenance Girl' more than a 'Comeback Queen'. Good photo. I love the setting. You look great and confident too
Amanda: I agree with Adele 100% on the persona choice. I don't see anything here that embodies redemption. I do love the setting and the dress, but your expression is kind of plain for me. Nothing about your face POPS! In fact, I notice the toolbox far before I see your face, which is a pretty major problem. This is decent, but it doesn't have enough to make it great.
Natalie: Once again, I agree with the other judges. I think your persona works well for you. I think the photo works well for you. I don't think the persona and photo work well for each other, which is a problem. Still, not a bad job though in terms of modelling.
LMH: What? Where in the world do you see, "real queen on one side and cold bitch on the other" ?! There is absolutely nothing I see in that photo that makes me think of "vengeance" haha it's funny to me! I know it's hard and stressful to try and impress the judges with a certain photo, but I really think you could have done way better. Also, I wish the photo was a bit closer but hey what can you do! I'm not feeling this one sorry!
Gwen: As a photo itself, I like this. I do wish the camera was closer to you or just that the photo itself was larger, but this is a nice shot of you. However, like the other judges, I have some concerns when it comes to the theme relation of this photo. I just don't fully see how it fits with your monicker of "Comeback Queen" unless you mean to get a low placement this round and then go on a comeback to win the game.
Jennifer 'The Voluptuous Diva'
LMH: I don't buy this "plus-size" celebrity crap. We're all humans, let's judge like we are, so don't try and make that your selling point (if that's your goal)! What in the world is "shadow-overcoming" styling?! Sorry I don't mean to hurt your feelings but seriously...
Lucky for you, I have way more problems with your write-up than I do your photo! Your photo is very good! I like how you're showing off your VOLUPTUOUS lips, I love the dark feel, the quality of the picture and pretty much everything about it. You did well this week, nice start.
But next time, PLEASE don't talk. Or at least think before you post something that is supposed to help us understand your photo haha.
Adele: You are so mean Min Ho. I love your explanation. I dunno for sure what is the meaning of Voluptuous but your explanation did help me. I think you look beautiful and serene. but i'm not sure if this photo is memorable enough
Amanda: Adele, "voluptuous" is Amanda's favorite word for "sensually pleasing" - aka "sexually arousing." As someone who pretty much understands that word from every pixel in the letters that shape it, I unfortunately do not see "voluptuous" here. I do enjoy that someone else is using that word, and that alone ups your score slightly, but nothing about this photo makes me aroused. It's pretty, but that's it. There's nothing fierce or memorable, and you're not showing off your goodies. I like the styling and the hair, but your mouth is off-putting, and you want to be like "KISS ME I'M HOT" or something. You're not. This is still a good photo, I just don't see you embodying your persona and I don't see anything that sticks out to me, so my feelings are mixed about it.
Natalie: Once again, I think your persona works for you, and the photo is great, but there is little cohesion between the persona and the photo. That is a great look for you though, Jennifer, so keep it!
Gwen: This is actually a nice picture and I like that you're not centered in it. It adds more of a sense of movement to it. It fits your theme nicely, although I would have liked to have seen a bit more of your body in this shot. I like the pose and love the facial expression.
Kate 'Retro'
Adele: I want to see more retro elements in this photo. But I think you did a good job. More emotion needed in your face. I love the fact that you made your research for this photo. Good job
Natalie: I do see retro here, which helps since a lot of girls haven't matched up with their persona as well as you have. In terms of the photo, it's just okay for me. Nothing really makes it pop, though I guess that would be better for retro than anything else. I like that you did your research- that adds points. Good job this week, and welcome back!
LMH: This is nice! You look very beautiful in that dress, and your hair, and everything! Though I'm not 100% convinced on the connection with the persona (implying you could have done better), the picture itself is very nice. I think colour needed to be present in order to hit this Retro persona out of the park. Good job though!
Gwen: I see a modern spin on a retro style in this shot. The structure of your top definitely has a retro feel to it and your hair seems like a bit of a modern look with some retro influence. The black and white is a nice touch in this photo and the pose is nice, too, even if you do have one amputated arm. I'm not a huge fan of your face in this shot, but it still works.
Katie 'Sweet Sultry Seductress'
Adele: I love this photo. One of my favorite photo so far. Very dramatic and intense. Your profile shoot look great. Very sexy and sultry. Great job, Katie
Amanda: I don't like your hair. It looks REALLY fake to me. Everything else is AMAZING. It's sexy, sultry, and the black and white adds to the effect. Really, after the hair, I don't see anything to complain about. Well done!
Natalie: Now THIS is a great persona. You've matched it well, and I totally love everything about this. I am okay with the seemingly fake hair, because I think that's expected of a seductress and you pull it off well for this photo. Great job!
LMH: I understand why my fellow judges like this. The dress is beautiful, the lighting is cool and you did a pretty good job with your persona. But I just dont like the photo itself. The angle is weird, that chair is even weirder and I just don't feel a connection with you. You're not seducing me, more boring me. I mean come on look at your eyes, are you about to fall asleep or what? You'll be fine though don't worry about it!
Gwen: I think you should have had Kate's persona because this photo fit Kate's theme perfectly. It also fits your theme, though. I like the dress and I like that the chair is clear; giving us a good look at your exposed back. The hair does look fake, but everything else about the photo is wonderful.
Katy 'Classy yet Funky'
Adele: Classy yet Funky and I think you nailed that part. I mean blue hair? The dress is gorgeous. The concept is great. Remind me of Olivia's photo from Cycle 5, which I really loved. Gorgeous, Katy. Well done
Natalie: I see the classy yet funky, with the dress and the hair. They match, so that adds points. I, however, have a problem with the setting and quality. The quality seems off, and the setting doesn't make sense with the photo at all. Overall, this is just okay for me.
Amanda: I don't like it. That hair looks so unnatural and I don't like that. I also get the feeling that this is a screencap of some sort, either that or the quality is low. This doesn't have the same fire as Olivia's did in cycle 5 - not to mention I don't find it even remotely attractive. The unnatural hair, the fact that I don't even know if this is YOU, the low quality, the angle... nothing except your dress works for me. Sorry Katy :/
LMH: I love how you nailed this persona. I don't know how anyone can deny that this isn't classy yet Funky. So I say great job on that. But, the setting is really weird I don't understand why you're on a ladder but I guess why would you know either! Haha, I really wished you would have been in a more classy location. The quality is a bit low too but I say good job for nailing the persona.
Gwen: I have to echo the sentiment that this photo does look funky, yet classy. However, like Amanda said, the low quality of the picture itself does make it look candid. We know it isn't actually a candid shot since I doubt Katy Perry dresses like that and randomly stands on ladders for fun. It's obvious that this is a photoshoot picture. However, the quality is the same as a candid shot. On the bright side, I love the blue hair and the juxtaposition of the masculine hairstyle with the feminine dress.
Liv 'The Adorable Girl'
LMH: Haha look how silly you look! I guess it is adorable but it's also kind of odd. Your dress is very nice but I think the fact that everything is in black and white really takes away from your persona. It would have been great if there were colours and RAINBOWS AND UNICORNS AND LOLLIPOPS! Haha but it's still pretty good, I can still see what you were trying to convey.
Adele: So cute. You nailed your persona well. I love the energy. I can see the adorable part all over this photo. From you pulling up your leg, your smile and your body language. Everything about it is so beautiful
Amanda: This is adorable and stays true to Liv, who wasn't exactly the sanest. I like the setting and the black and white is an appropriate nod. Overall, I really don't have much to complain about. It's not the most memorable or striking photo ever, but it's still really good. Great job, Liv
Natalie: I love how you managed to tie a relevant persona to not only your photo, but your celebrity as well. This is very cutesy, and overall just a well done job. Good to have you back as Liv! .2
Gwen: You nailed your persona with this shot. It's a fun, flirty pose and you look adorable in it. I do wish that the picture was in color, but that's really the only complaint I have about an otherwise great shot.
Marion 'Madame Magnifique'
Adele: Stunning for me. I think it's very elegant and regal. You look so classy. The way the dress flow really made it work. Be careful with the lighting on your face. No matter what, I love this photo.
Amanda: Incredible setting and styling, but your photo is somewhat marred by your closed eyes being blinded by the light. That's really my only gripe here - this is otherwise flawless. Great work, Marion!
Natalie: I'm a fan. Though your persona isn't the best, it makes sense and that's enough for me. You look flawless here, and the lighting is hot. Great job, Marion!!
LMH: I loved your explanation. It just makes perfect sense. Finally someone is making a persona of WHO THEY ACTUALLY ARE! I love that you're proud and this photo is really nicely done. Good job!
Gwen: I feel like I could copy and paste Amanda's critique and have nothing else to say. It has great setting and styling. My only problem is with your eyes being closed in this shot with the light shining directly on them. Otherwise, this is a fantastic start.
Monica 'The Scandalmonger'
LMH: I don't even know why we should critique. This is obviously perfection haha. I don't have anything to say, this is absolutely brilliant. This is a walk off grand slam to win the world series. It's over. Great job Monica!
Adele: Flawless. Really great, Monica. Stunning dress, stunning pose. I was totally speechless by this Monica. Your strongest photo ever. And the great part is you nailed your theme perfectly
Amanda: You look almost Asian, which I find odd. Aside from that, WOWZA. This is gorgeous, artistic, and very true to your persona. I also really enjoy your commentary about the twats there xD
So yeah, great work~
Natalie: I have nothing to add. Great job this week!
Gwen: Nobody should dream of calling you a weak model after seeing this shot. You embodied your persona to a 't'. Your persona is even based off of recent events that involved you. Andon top of all that, this is a fantastic modeling shot. Great job.
Zoe 'Chocolatte Diva'
Adele: Good photo but in term of memorable or not, I'm not so sure that it was memorable enough this week. The dress is good but your hair is a little bit messy. The wind on your hair supposed to compliment your look but it didn't help you here. Damn you Wind!!! Expression could be better too.
Amanda: The wind in your hair is a bit overdone, yeah. There isn't much memorable about this photo. It's pretty, you've got a great smile, and you are a diva, but nothing pops out at me. Nothing is going to make this stand out when compared to some of the other photos this week. It's nice, but that's it. Enough to keep you safe? Yup.
Natalie: I agree with the judges so far. You have kept it a bit safe. I don't have many problems with it, but nothing about it wows me. I wish your hair were a little calmer. I think you're in good shape for the first round though, Zoe. Good job!
LMH: This one is okay. Not too good, not too bad. Your smile is a little weird probably because of all the wind that's blowing in your face. But your persona is there for sure as you can see from your dress, background and pretty nail polish. I think you did a good job conveying your persona and that's probably the most important part anyways.
Gwen: Well, brown is the prominent color here and that dress does hint of a diva. I feel like with the word diva, you could have taken this a bit further than we see here. Also, I'm not a big fan of your face in this shot. The pose is fine and I do like that windblown hair of yours.
This week, you need to submit a photo to embody you persona during your previous cycle. Let's see the photos
