Hello Final 9!!!
This week, you need to pick a Movie Genre and submit your photo based on that genre. Let's see your photo this week.
Ashley 'Horror'
Lee: Oh wow I'm scared! I guess that's a good thing though in this case haha. This is fantastic because it's 100% Horror in every aspect so you nailed the theme perfectly. However, I guess it's worth mentioning that most of your face is covered, but I love your eyes!
Adele: I think this is amazing. I love your eye contact in this photo, Ash. You managed to deliver emotion like scared, panic and worried from you eyes. I think you're getting better week from week. Fantastic job, Ashley.
Amanda: Well this gives me the creeps. Given the theme, that's a good thing. This is a very artistic photo and I think the effect does woners. Your eyes and hair are incredible, and I really don't have any flaws to note here. Well done, Ash!
Nat: This is great! I love the shock value, effects and creepiness of it all. Your eyes are fantastic here, and I think you really connected to the camera. Great job, Ashley!
Britney 'Fantasy'
Adele: I love the setting and the concept is also great and unique. Your body language is great but I still have problem with your face. I don't think you connect well in the photo. But bonus point for letting me to view that long and yummy neck!!!
Lee: Haha I never even had a problem with your face until I took a longer look at it! It's kind of lame in a way, just hanging there looking clueless. But I guess Fantasty is weird sometimes. This is a great Fantasy shot though. I think the theme is clearly visible so in that case I like this.
Amanda: Gorgeous. The effects and the setting are amazing, and your pose - especially the neck and the way you're strutting - really add a lot to this photo. I don't have much of a problem with your face, since I think it's relaxed in a way that suits this photo. I like your outfit, love your hair, and really... I don't have like anything negative. Brit, this is easily one of my favorite photos from you. Well done
Natalie: I'm a fan this week, Britney. I think the lighting of this photo really adds to its fantasy qualities, and you look great. Your skin is flawless here and I love your styling as well. Great job!
Emmy 'Sci-Fi'
Adele: I really like this. I think you manage to attract people to watch you in action. The styling is suitable to your genre. And I really believe the explanation that you gave us. Good Job!!!
Lee: I like the intensity a lot and your outfit is pretty awesome. Overall, I think you did a good job representing the genre(s) and there's nothing really to complain about. Even though you're looking away, I think it fits well.
Amanda: Now I want to play Saints Row: The Third again. You almost look like Shaundi, and given how... uhh, what's the word? uhh... she's rather temperamental in that game.
Really, that's the first thing that came to mind. Since there is the theory that the events of that game ARE, in fact, a movie, I say you've nailed the theme. It's definitely badass and something unique for you. Your neck is great. The effect works. And it's fashion as art in a way, without incorporating a setting. I like it.
Natalie: While I don't find the strand of hair to be a problem, I don't think I'm as in love with this as the other judges. It's good, no doubt, but I'm not terribly blown away. I was expecting something more action-packed when you said Fantasy Action, and this looks like pre-action. There's probably not a better way to categorize it, so I still think you did well. Overall, you did a good job!
Kate 'Crime Drama'
Adele: Very artsy and bad-ass!!! The concept is there. and you look very brave in this photo but be careful with your face. It's a little bit hiding here, so watch out the angle. Overall, I think you did good!!!
Lee: As a genre I think you did a good job, but picture wise you are pretty hidden. I'm kind of looking away from you and focusing on the background a lot. I wish the picture was really focused on you so we could see more detail. This is still pretty good though!
Amanda: This is badass. Like the really really awesome kind of badass. It's like a superhero movie cliche of the hero looking over the town he protects, only with the unique twist of you being an FBI agent. It's got fashion, it's got a definite "movie" vibe, and the darkened effect really, REALLY does wonders. Like Ho, however, I can't see your face, and that's really my only gripe here. You need to stand out a little more. This is definitely a movie promo poster, and I love it for that, so you shouldn't be concerned at all
Natalie: That was sort of my first concern- that may not even necessarily be you. Now, it probably is, but the fact that I can't tell is a bit of an issue. This fits the theme and shoot extremely well though, so I still think you did a good job this week!
Katy 'Fantasy'
Adele: Beautiful setting but maybe you could inject a little bit more of the fantasy elements in your photo. Great styling and the shoes!!!! Crazy!!! Overall, very entertaining and memorable.
Lee: Ooh very nice! I love it, I think you did great. I like the sexy Evil Queen vibe from Snow White, with the apple and stuff. Good job!
Amanda: I don't completely see "fantasy" here, but I can definitely see the justification for it, so it works. I don't know if I like your hair here, because it looks more like "wealthy" than "evil." The setting is amazing, and I could see this as some sort of fairy tale. You look great, too - your styling is unique and stands out. And your neck is delicious - Adele, why the hell didn't you say that? Overall, I like it. Good work
Natalie: I think that you could've elaborated on your theme here. I do see how fantasy fits, but taking it a step further would've easily launched you to the top of this week. That in mind, this is still a strong photo due to your styling. Good job this week!
Liv 'Mystery'
Adele: I don't have any problems with the setting and styling. I think you did well on that department. My concern is on your energy!! You look very tired and week and I expected more on your face expression since you picked mystery.
Lee: I feel like the description is a bit of a stretch for this to be mystery. But then again, it is kind of mysterious. The scenery is like wait what why are there buildings and then a forest..in the building? Haha so I guess in a really different kind of way this is Mystery. Even though your face is kind of dead, I think it just fits in a weird way. This picture is very odd!!! In a mysterious kind of way...
Amanda: This setting definitely seems more "mystery" or "drama" than anything, so I can see your justification. Your face isn't the most appealing here, but your hair and styling are great. I love your eyes, but not your mouth. You look old in one way, young in another, and that face is just not doing much for me because of it. Still, this isn't bad or anything, so keep up the good work
Natalie: Hmmm, I'm not so sure on this being Mystery. I think you sorta stretched for it, but you're used to stretching to make things work since you're an english major so... Anyway, I think the setting is more of a mystery than the genre of a movie you'd be in. I'd actually be better with this being fantasy. I also think your look is a tad off here. Your styling is good though. This is just okay for me, Liv.
Marion 'Drama'
Adele: Wow!! This is pretty intense and weird. I can see the dramatic value in the photo. I also like your style this week. Very unique and definitely memorable, Marion.
Lee: Oh wow this is weird haha. i guess it's drama? I was expecting more of a like soap opera kind of feel but I guess this is what makes this photo memorable. I still don't know if I like it though haha. I don't know how to feel to be completely honest with you!
Amanda: I have no idea what genre this would be, but I think more "Mystery" than "Drama," or maybe this is one of your Inception dreams. It's VERY striking, and the black and white makes it VERY artistic. I can totally see this as being a part of some movie - it's memorable. I wish you were connecting with the camera more, but this is a sort of action shot - a movie promo still. The shadows are great, however, and make this out to be a good modeling shot too. I like it, Marion. Well done
Natalie: This may be one of the strangest photos of all time, but I actually like it. The stuffed horse thingy is totally WTF, but without that the photo is pretty good for Drama. The whole newspaper/black&white thing is really great. Good job, Marion!
Monica 'Horror'
Adele: I love this Mo, Your body language is very graceful and it really worked out very well. I love the mystery element in this photo. I wish there would be more blood but overall, I think you nailed it, girl!!!
Lee: Oooh very cool! I love your explanation too, I can really see the connection! WHO IS THAT MAN!! I MUST KNOW! Haha you look reaally good in this photo and I love the horror element. Good job!
Amanda: The setting works for horror. The styling is great, and the man walking over you is creepy since we can't see him, and his glove makes his hand look frail, like he's some sort of zombie skeleton demon or something. I like this for thematic relation, and you do look pretty. Overall, there really isn't anything to complain about, but then again, it's not the most memorable shot of yours. At least it's not porn.
Nat: I really like this, Monica. I think it fits the theme well, and the setting and styling are great for a movie. I also really like how the other figure isn't seen, since then you know he's there but he doesn't take away from you. Good job this week!
Zoe 'Silent Romantic Comedy'
Adele: I don't have the problem with the setting. It's beautiful and classic. I think you should just go with 'classic' on this one because the styling reminded me of 50's and 60's. Not really fancy your face expression. Overall, it's a good photo but I think you can do better than this..
Lee: How is this a romantic comedy? I don't understand the connection at all. I think this is a picture that desperately needs your description to help us try and understand your thinking. Picture wise, you're certainly the centre of attention which is good but I wish the picture was a bit larger so we can see more detail.
Amanda: You're a flirt, that's for sure, but "flirt" doesn't automatically equate to "romance," plus I don't see any "comedy" here. The black and white may indicate "silent film" and I can see that, even if this looks like something from the 40s or 50s. You're commanding the guys' attention but not ours - I think the black and white almost takes attention AWAY from you. It's definitely a movie, but the one you picked doesn't make sense for me. As for the photo itself, it's good, and definitely a nice homage, but like I said... it's a bit too dark for you to stand out. I'm not suggesting anything racial here, it's just that this photo could make you pop if it were in color and your dress were a nice bright contrast to the suits around you. You're pretty, but that's about it. It's still good, but it isn't great.
Nat: This is just okay for me, Zoe. I think that you were getting at something with your theme, but I think you missed the mark a bit. I see "silent film," but I think the word "classic" would be better terminology. This almost looks candid, too. There are just so many people in it. You don't really shine here, Zoe, sorry!
