Hello Girls!!!
Welcome to your Eighth Elimination Session!!!
This week we have our First Stress Week for this cycle. Let's see the outcome of the Stress Week!!!
Nat: Oh Ashley... I really am not a fan this week and I'm worried. I don't think you're really connecting with the audience, and I'm not blown away by this profile shot. You can hardly see your styling, and I wouldn't really call your pose high-fashioned either. Overall, this is not good for me, sorry!
Amanda: This reeks of production still. It's high-quality for a screencap, but it doesn't feel like a photoshoot, and that's more likely than not the source of my criticism here - like Nat, I think you're not connecting with the audience. Still, I like it in a way - your hair is gorgeous, I love your earrings, and the rich theme is actually working for you. This still isn't as good as what you've been giving us, but... it's not bad. Hoping you stay
Adele: I like this photo. I think there's a story behind it. Your styling is great. I love your hair in this photo. The artistic vibe in this photo is quite strong. I'm a fan!!!
Lee: I think you look very beautiful and I love how you chose a side view photo. I don't think it's risky at all, I think you make it look very nice and overall I really like this photo. Just because you're not looking at us, doesn't mean you're not connecting with the audience. I don't agree with that at all. I like this!
Gwen: I can see the high fashion in this, but would like to have seen the theme taken further. The lack of connection with the audience isn't damning in this instance, but the photo could have been stronger with a little glance towards the camera. This is still a nice, classy shot of you, though.
Nat: I do think this is very high-fashion, so you get points for thematic incorporation, however, I think being unable to see your face well is a bit of a blunder. No doubt you're modelling here, but I wish we could connect more with you. Still, it's a bold statement, and I do like certain parts of it. Not bad!
Amanda: This unfortunately reminds me of the Persona theme in that my criticism is the same. The photo is small, and given the distance and bangs you're concealed, and the shadow in the back sort of engulfs you; there's no question you're modeling here, however, which is a step up from the Persona shoot, and the snakes are an interesting (scary!) touch, but the main problem is, again, that you're not standing out. I can't see your face at ALL, and that... swimsuit I think... is really unique, but not in a good way - it sort of makes you look like an alien. I like the neck and the black and white gives this a creepy effect, which I do like, but I can't help but being mixed about this one. It's high-fashion, yes, but to what extent? I'm not sure... I want to like this, but it's just iffy for me. Sorry Brit :/
Adele: I can't deny the fact that this photo is High Fashion. But the problem with you is, we always have some kind of problem to see your face. The styling is alright but I love the snakes.
Lee: I hate to be so lazy but I'm going to have to agree with everyone. It's definitely high fashion but it's waayyyyy too smaaall and that makes me angry lol. You look like a demon.
Gwen: This is the second round in a row where your hair is obstructing our view of your eyes. In this case, it's the shadow that is cast over them. I do like this from a theme perspective, but you definitely sacrificed the modeling aspect to give us the theme. Let's hope you didn't sacrifice too much.
Emmy: I do like this! It's a very strong photo, and I happen to like the B&W here. Your styling is divine, and I think this will definitely keep you moving onto next week. Good job!
Amanda: Not sure how "you" this is, but I do like it. It's something different. I'm not sure about your blouse, but I'm happy it isn't in color - that might be... yeah. I like your hair and the pose, and it's different that you're not wearing... pants (or a skirt). It's a nice change of pace for you, which I appreciate, but I'm on the fence about a few things here... but hey, it's not bad!
Adele: Gosh!!! I love this photo so much. Strong face expression. The pose is very dynamic. Very fierce. Great job, Emmy.
Lee: I can't recognize you at all haha so this is obviously very different/ But theme wise I think you nailed it. Even though your blouse is questionable, this is still a high fashion photo and just overall solid I'd say.
Gwen: You body language reads "I'm trying to take a dump". Sorry for the vulgarity, but that's what I read when I see that pose. I do think your styling is pretty high fashion and I think this photo works in black and white, so I'm not worried about the lack of color.
Natalie: Ooh, I like this. Your pose and styling are very high-fashion, and the whole look is very cohesive with the setting. There's a story here, and I admire that. Great job this week!
Amanda: This is unique and in an artistic way, while still reminding me of a horror flick. I also appreciate the effort you made to kill the nasty watermarks that seem to have plagued this photo - the subtlety of them is a lot better than having them hide you in the depths. I do like this quite a lot - especially that necklace, and that your shackles look like jewelry. That bit's an original take, and with your hair looking so gorgeous and your fierce expression... this is really good. Nice job, Kate
Adele: Very dramatic and strong... You wow me this week, Katy!!! I love the way you look at the camera and your body language is very strong too. Good job, Kate
Lee: Yes yes yes yes. Is this from a movie though? I feel like this is a movie photo shoot or something, like some sort of Vampire movie haha now I'm annoyed. But it's still good!
Gwen: I love your pose, I love your styling, I love the setting, I love the color scheme of the shoot, I love the vibe... basically, I just love your shot this round. It's good enough for me that I completely do not mind the watermark in the shot.
Natalie: Oh Katy, you were so strong last week, and this isn't doing it for me. The setting is really just not cohesive with the rest of the photo, and while your dress is "high-fashioned," I think you sacrificed major modelling points here since it's hard to see your face. Sorry Katy, not a fan this week.
Amanda: This seems a little low-res for me, and that's not doing you any justice. I also don't like the ballroom mask at all - given the distance, it camouflages your face, which is a huge no-no. Now, if it were close up, that could add artistic value; here, it just hides what could potentially be a fierce gaze. I love the dress, and I actually think it's interesting with the setting. It's unique, which is something that you're known for. It's just that I can't get over the quality... or the mask, and I'm starting to look the other way. :/
Adele: The quality really killed the photo, Katy. I love the dress and the concept. I think the dress is gorgeous but the quality of your photo is the biggest problem for you Katy this week.
Lee: Ya the quality is sooo horrible haha. Your face is hidden but I think for this rare occasion, it fits your overall style that you were trying to convey. I want to like this but the quality is sooo bad that it makes it hard to like unfortunately.
Gwen: I just want to rip that lace off of your face. Also, as the other judges have surely already touched upon, the quality of this photo isn't great. Those two complaints aside, I do like this photo. I love the fullness of your dress and I really love the setting for your shoot. It's a mixed bag with you this week.
Natalie: Liv, this is such a great comeback for you! You look absolutely fierce, and you're wearing something actually real. This is definitely high fashion for me; I'm a fan this week! Good job!
Amanda: This strikes me as somewhat safe. There's nothing eye-poppingly artistic about this, and although your hair is fabulous, your dress is great, and the unique pose shows off your personality, there's nothing that I'm going to remember about this by next round. For a "high fashion" theme, you played this pretty safely. It's good, yes, but... nothing overly memorable. There's nothing wrong with it and plenty right... but there's nothing more than that. So really, this gets a B- at best from me. Hope that's enough!
Adele: I agree with Amanda. I was looking for something risky from you. You don't have the setting and the strong styling to back up your photo this week, Liv.. I don't know about this Liv
Lee: I don't think this is safe, I think it's pretty solid. i don't think it's great but I don't think it's bad at all. I suppose it's kind of bland on location but I'll most likely rank this mid level.
Gwen: I'm going to have to echo Amanda and Adele and say that I feel this is a safe picture. I do love your fierceness in the photo, but I feel that you could have taken the theme further than you did this week. Still, safe isn't necessarily a bad thing. Especially the week after the Save is used on you.
Natalie: Marion, this looks great! I love your pose and styling here, and I think you have a great fashion value in this photo. This is incredibly classy, which is a unique way to approach this shoot. I love it!
Amanda: First of all, your face is REALLY good, so you don't have to worry about the insipid poison I mentioned last week. Also, your setting is GREAT, and the photo effect makes it work even better. The fashion value is high, even though your dress isn't my favorite, and it all goes together really well. The one thing is... you don't "pop" the way you could. You still look good, you're just not standing out to own this in a manner that would make me remember it. Still, good work - it's a step up from last round
Adele: Love the setting. And your styling is very unique. You did great this week and thanks for giving us beautiful face this week. Great job, Marion.
Lee: LALALALALALA. This is good. I don't think I love it like some of the judges but I can acknowledge it's pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the setting, it's too old-fashioned, and it's weird how you're kind of off to the side of the photo. The furniture distracts me!
Gwen: Like Lee, I'm not as in love with it as some of the other judges, but unlike Lee, it's for different reasons. I'm actually fine with your setting and I like the asymmetry of the photo. Your face, pose, and styling are also fine in this photo. It's just missing that little special something to take this from a good photo and a phenomenal photo. It's missing that "x-factor".
Natalie: I really like this, Monica! Everything about this is high-fashion: the dress, background and pose. I love your styling this week, and its contrast to the background. Good job!!
Amanda: I like it, but I don't love it. The dress is solid and most definitely "you" and I love the intensity in your eyes, but it took me a little while to notice that because of just how red your lipstick is. Now there isn't anything wrong with that, it's just stealing the show. The background and pose are solid, but I'm not sure about your hair - it's almost a bit too shiny, which robs it of an almost necessary contrast to the background, which would help it stand out. Overall, this is good - it's something that's you, and it's something that works. Good work, Mo!
Adele: Unlike Liv, the setting and styling managed to help you this week. I'm not a fan of the dress but at least we see something risky from you. I think it's a good round for you. Good job
Lee: This is good.
LOL sorry but I've always wanted to do a critique like that before.
Gwen: Slap the photographer who didn't think to shoot your legs. That would have elevated this photo so much. Even without your legs, this is still a strong shot for me. I love the juxtaposition of the dress against the background and I think your styling and posing work nicely this round.
